19th match of the TATA Indian Premier League saw Kolkata Knight Riders take on Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both the teams were coming into the game on the back of a win in their last game. Kolkata Knight Riders had beaten Gujarat Titans, while Sunrisers had beaten Punjab Kings. The game was played at the famed Eden Gardens ground as the fans thronged to watch their favorite stars.
The story as it happened –
Nitish Rana, the Kolkata Knight Riders captain won the toss and chose to bowl first. There was just one change for the visiting Hyderabad side as Abhishek Sharma came into the team. Kolkata Knight Riders on the other hand came into the game without making any change to their playing XI.
Harry Brook’s distasteful comments post his knock –
English batter Harry Brook was the star of the show with the bat on Friday. The 24 year old scored the 1st century of the season as he stayed not out on 100 off 55 balls. Post his knock, Brook created controversy when he said “There are a lot of Indian fans out there who’ll say well done tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up”

Brook and Markram lead Hyderabad to 228 –
Andre Russell got his first wickets of the season when he had Mayank Agarwal and Rahul Tripathi both out for 9. With the score reading 57/2, Hyderabad skipper Aiden Markram came out swinging. The right hander scored 50 off 26 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes. Abhishek Sharma scored 32 off 17 balls, while Heinrich Klassen scored 16 not out. This helped Hyderabad reach 228 on the board.
Nitish Rana and Rinku’s efforts fall short –
Chasing a mammoth 229 to win, Kolkata saw their skipper Nitish Rana lead the fight back. Rana scored 75 off 41 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. Rinku Singh scored his 1st IPL half century to be not out on 58 off 31 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. The lead wicket taker for Hyderabad was Marco Jansen and Markande who picked 2 wickets each.
