IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians finally break silence to take a dig at Royal Challengers Bangalore

Match 16 of TATA Indian Premier League 2023 season saw the two teams that were yet to win play each other. Arun Jaitley Stadium was the venue as Mumbai Indians took on Delhi Capitals. The visiting Mumbai side had played 2 games and lost both of them. Delhi on the other hand had played 3 games and lost all three. The match was important for Rohit Sharma and his men as he had seen his team finish last in the league during TATA IPL 2022 season.

The story as it happened –

Mumbai had started the season with a game away to Royal Challengers Bangalore and lost the game. Half centuries by Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis had given the Bangalore said an 8 wicket win. The game saw certain section of Bangalore crowd turn up the volume and body shame Rohit Sharma, by calling him “Vada Pav”

Mumbai Indians’ social media handle takes dig at Royal Challengers Bangalore –

After the win on Tuesday, Mumbai Indians official Instagram account put up a post which read. “You believe in Karma, we believe in Sharma”. Post the insult to the Indian and Mumbai Indians skipper, the fans have been taking shots at the RCB team and its fans. After their loss to Lucknow on Monday, there were few fans who were spotted crying and many termed it Karma.

Rohit Sharma back in form –

After a below par opening two games to the season, Rohit Sharma on Tuesday showed vintage form. The 35 year old, scored 65 runs off 45 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Chasing 173 to win, Rohit Sharma first added 71 runs with Ishan Kishan for the 1st wicket, before the latter was run out for 31. Rohit then added 68 runs for the 3rd wicket with Tilak Varma as the young left hander scored 41 off 29 balls with a four and 4 sixes.

Surya Kumar Yadav fails yet again –

32 year old Surya Kumar Yadav’s bad run of form continued yet again. He was out first ball when he fell to Mukesh Kumar caught by Kuldeep Yadav. The 32 year old was looking to play his favorite flick shot before he was out. SKY had scored 3 first ball ducks in the recent home series against Australia. Yadav had also missed a catch off Axar Patel and hurt himself in the face in the process.
