Heinrich Klassen stole the show with the bat on Thursday in the TATA Indian Premier League. The game played at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium saw Sunrisers Hyderabad host Royal Challengers Bangalore. The game had no significance apart from pride for the home side. For the visiting RCB side it was a must win game to make it to the final week off the tournament.

The story as it happened –

Bangalore won the toss and wanted to bowl and surprisingly even Markram remarked he wanted to bat first. It was a good toss to win as the pitch was meant to be a batting beauty for the entire game.

Mohammad Siraj misses an easy run out –

The last over of the Sunrisers Hyderabad batting innings was given to Mohammad Siraj the local boy. Bowling the 5th ball of the over to Glenn Phillips, Siraj saw the Kiwi miss a sweep shot.

Phillips set off for a run and went looking for a non existent single. Siraj made quick ground as Phillips took time to turn around. Siraj though picked the ball and tried to run out the batter only to miss the stumps from near. Glenn Maxwell too was taken aback and couldn’t control his laugh.

Klassen century takes SRH to 186 –

Michael Bracewell struck twice in his first over to dismiss Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi. It was the turn of Shahbaz Ahmed to get the big wicket of Aiden Markram for 18 to break a 76 run stand for the 3rd wicket for SRH.

The day belong to Klassen as he scored an emotional 1st IPL century. The 31 year old from South African hit 104 off with 8 fours and 6 sixes as he got to the 3 figure mark with a six. The celebrations were wild as he hugged his partner Harry Brook who stayed not out on 27 as Hyderabad scored 186/4.

Twitter reacts –

The missed run out by Mohammad Siraj had the fans in splits as they took to Twitter to have their say.
