IPL 2023: Twitter reacts as hilarious scenes are witnessed during the Pak vs NZ ODI

Cricket fans around the world are busy with the TATA Indian Premier League 2023 season. The biggest domestic T20 tournament in the world has already crossed the half way stage. Across the border, Pakistan is hosting the New Zealand team for a 5 match T20 and ODI series. The T20 series saw the score being tied 2-2 as the visiting Kiwi side won two games to tie the series while one game was abandoned due to weather.

The story as it happened –

Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first, just like they had done in the first game. The game was played at the Rawalpindi Stadium with the Pakistani team coming in with a 1-0 lead. Pakistan had won their first game by 5 wickets on Thursday to take the early lead.

Hilarious scenes at Rawalpindi-

It is said that Pakistan cricket never disappoints to entertain us, and this is what happened on Saturday. On-field umpires saw that the 30 yard was measured wrong. The umpires then stopped play and called the ground staff to fix the entire thing while the match was ongoing. This was really a moment that no one had seen or experienced before.


New Zealand lose one early –

Will Young and Chad Bowes were the openers after New Zealand were put into bat. The Kiwi openers put on 33 for the opening wicket in 34 balls. The dangerous looking Young was caught behind by Rizwan off Haris Rauf for 19 off 22 with 4 fours.

Bowes and Mitchell plunder runs –

The fall of Will Young, got Daryl Mitchell into the middle as the pair added 86 runs for the 2nd wicket. Chad Bowes got his maiden ODI half century before falling for run a ball 51. The wicket of Bowes was picked by Haris Rauf.

Latham joins Mitchell to flatten the home side –

Captain Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell did not stop the run scoring as the momentum was in the visitors favor. The two added 183 runs for the 3rd wicket as the stand came in 159 balls.

Mitchell scored career best 129 off 119 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Latham was unlucky to miss a century as he fell for 98 off 85 balls with 8 fours and a six. The Kiwis ended their 50 overs with 336 on the board. Haris Rauf was the lead wicket taker with 4 wickets as Naseem Shah picked 1. Debutant, Ihsanullah bowled 8 overs for 60 runs.
