IPL 2023: Twitter reacts as Ravi Shastri loses his cool at the 3rd umpire

Chennai Super Kings flew down to Kolkata as they took on the Knight Riders on Sunday. The match was played at the Eden Gardens as both the teams came in with different form. Chennai wanted to keep their winning run going in a bid to reach top of the table. Kolkata, meanwhile wanted to win the game to shake off the bad run of results they had suffered in the games previously.

The story so far –

Kolkata won the toss and chose to bowl first as they had been having good results while chasing. David Wiese and N. Jagadeesan came in for Liton Das and Mandeep Singh. Chennai Super Kings went in with the same team that played their last game.

Ravi Shastri loses his cool at the 3rd umpire –

Chennai had wrapped up the game with 50 needed to win from 3 balls. That’s when Pathirana bowled a full toss which went to Dhoni as the batter Rinku Singh opted for a review. The 3rd umpire was dragging on the entire process, and asked for a side on review of the same. That’s when Ravi Shastri could be heard saying “Come on Man”. The former Indian coach was visibly irritated at the delay caused.

Kolkata openers fail yet again –

Chasing 236 to win, Kolkata came out to open with Sunil Narine and Jagadeesan due to Jason Roy suffering an injury. Akash Singh struck 4th ball when he went past the defenses of Narine to dismiss him for a duck. Tushar Deshpande then had Jagadeesan caught by Jadeja for 1 to reduce the home side to 1 for 2 in the 2nd over.

Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer attempt a fightback –

Captain Nitish Rana was joined by impact player Venkatesh Iyer as they started to give a fightback. Both the batters played 20 balls each as they added 45 runs in 35 balls. Iyer scored 20 with 2 fours and a six before falling to Moeen Ali’s bowling. Jadeja got the wicket of Rana as he was out for 27 with 4 fours and a six in his knock.

Roy smashes the 2nd fastest 50 off the season as Rinku stays on not out –

With 2 more wickets falling, the Kolkata faithful saw their team need more than 15 runs per over. Jason Roy scored the 2nd fastest 50 off the season as he was going hammer and tongs. Roy, scored 61 off 26 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Rinku Singh, scored 53 not out from 33 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes.
