Rajasthan Royals played Punjab Kings on Friday night at the Dharamsala ground at Himachal Pradesh. It was an important game for both the sides, as a win for the Royals would take them to 14 points. if the Royals had chased down the target under 18.3 overs or lesser, then they would have gone to number 4 in the table. For Punjab it was a simple case as they had to win and hope for the best. In the end the Punjab Kings lost and were out of the tournament.

Sam Curran’s war of words with Hetmyer –

The incident took place in the 17th over with Sam Curran bowling to Hetmyer with over 30 runs needed for a win. Hetmyer went to play the pull shot as the PBKS players went up for the appeal.

The umpire ruled the batter out caught behind, but Hetmyer went for the DRS. That’s when Curran was seen telling the batter something as the two umpires came to calm the situation down. To add insult to injury the DRS came in favor of Hetmyer as no edge was found.

Hetmyer rubs more salt to Sam Curran’s wounds –

Rajasthan Royals needed 19 runs off the last 12 balls to keep their hope alive this season. Sam Curran bowled to Hetmyer who creamed the ball through the covers for a crisp 4. The left hander from West Indies then ran down to complete a mock run and was in a way celebrating smashing the Englishman for a four.

Jaiswal and Paddikkal help Rajasthan to a rousing start –

Chasing 188 to win, Jaiswal continued his good run off form when he hit 12 runs of the 1st over by Sam Curran. Jos Buttler continued his bad form as he recorded his 5th duck of the season when he was out LBW to Rabada.

Padikkal and Jaiswal joined forces as the two left handers went after the Punjab Kings bowlers. The pair added 73 runs in 49 balls with Padikkal getting to his 2nd 50 of the season. Padikkal scored 51 off 30 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes before falling to Arshdeep Singh caught by Harpreet Brar at point.

Jaiswal and Hetmyer lead Royals to close win –

Post the fall of Padikkal, it was Samson who was out to Rahul Chahar foe 2. This got Hetmyer to the crease as he added 47 runs for the 4th wicket with Jaiswal in mere 22 balls. Jaiswal scored 50 off 36 balls with the help of 8 fours before being dismissed by Ellis. Riyan Parag scored 20 off 12 with a four and 2 sixes, while Hetmyer fell for 46 off 28 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Dhruv Jurel stayed not out on 10 off 4 balls with a six as Rajasthan Royals won the game with 2 balls to spare and 4 wickets in hand.
