IPL 2023: Twitter reacts to Trent Boult’s brilliant catch to dismiss Prabhsimran Singh

TATA Indian Premier League 2023 has entered its final Friday of the league phase matches. The match on Friday saw Rajasthan Royals taken on Punjab Kings. The game was played at the HPCA stadium at Dharamsala ground. Both Punjab and Rajasthan needed a win by a huge margin in a bid to make it to the play off. Sanju Samson and Shikhar Dhawan knew the fate was not in their hands despite a win for their team.

The story as it happened –

Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl first as Joe Root was rested for the final game. Riyan Parag and Navdeep Saini came into the team as Ravichandran Ashwin had to miss out due to a niggle. Punjab Kings though did not make any changes from their last game against Delhi.

Boult makes an immediate impact –

Punjab Kings opened the batting with Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh. The young right hander had been in good touch with the bat and scored a ton against Delhi away from home.

The 2nd ball of the 1st over of the game saw Singh close the face of the bat and play it to the leg side. The ball though was in the air as Boult jumped to his right and took a splendid caught and bowled chance to dismiss Prabhsimran for mere 2.

Royals wreck Punjab’s top order –

Shikhar Dhawan and Atharva Taide then combined to 36 runs for the 2nd wicket in mere 20 balls. Navdeep Saini who was playing his 2nd game of the season had Taide caught by Padikkal for 19. Adam Zampa then had the big wicket of Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan for 17. While Taide hit 3 fours and a six, Dhawan hit 2 fours and a six in his 12 ball knock before getting out LBW to Zampa. At the end of the powerplay, Punjab were 46/3 with Livingstone and Curran batting.
