IPL 2023: Watch! Crowd trouble at Hyderabad after no-ball controversy

s

As we head into the final stages of the TATA Indian Premier League 2023 season, the heat is catching up. India is already witnessing heavy mercury hit across every state. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have been playing some eye catching cricket off late were taking on Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday. Lucknow had played 11 games while Hyderabad had played 10. Both the teams were in realistic chance of trying to make it to the top 4.

The story as it happened –

Lucknow Super Giants have been in the news this season of TATA IPL 2023 more for their off the field news. Be it the pitch which has been questioned or the fight between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli which took place on 1st May. There was another controversy which happened on Saturday in the game between Hyderabad and Lucknow.

Klassen gets angry after 3rd umpire overturns no ball call –

The entire incident happened in the 19th over when Avesh Khan was bowling to Abdul Samad from round the wicket. Avesh Khan bowled a full toss to Samad well above his waist and the on field umpire called it a no ball.

That’s when Lucknow went up to review the call and the 3rd umpire overturned the no ball call. Heinrich Klassen though lost his cool as he argued with the square leg umpire.

Play halted for few minutes due to crowd trouble –

Once the entire incident happened, there was a further halt in play. No one was sure what had happened. The camera panned towards the Lucknow dugout as it later came to light that few things were thrown at the LSG dugout. What was evident was the chant of Kohli’s name with Gautam Gambhir in the dugout.

Klassen disappointed with the crowd behavior and umpiring–

Speaking at the mid innings interaction, SRH wicket keeper batter, Heinrich Klassen said “disappointed with the crowd, that’s not what you want from a crowd. It broke a lot of momentum. Hopefully the umpires stay consistent. Not great umpiring”. Klassen was the top scorer with 47 as he helped Hyderabad reach 182 from their 20 overs in a must win game.
