IPL 2023: Watch! Sanju Samson’s simple run out fumble has the fans seeing red

Match number 52 of the TATA Indian Premier League has had the fans going crazy. In what looked like an easy win for Rajasthan turned out to be a nightmare. Sandeep Sharma’s no ball in the last delivery turned the entire game around. Abdul Samad turned hero by hitting the last ball for a six. The win gave Sunrisers Hyderabad new hope as it threw the tournament open.

The story as it happened –

Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bat first as the Jaipur pitch looked different to the last game. Rajasthan, were bowled out for mere 117 as Gujarat won the game with 9 wickets to spare. Joe Root finally made his IPL debut for the Royals, as Vivrant Sharma too got his cap and Glenn Phillips replaced the misfiring Harry Brook.

Sanju Samson fumbles an easy run out chance –

Chasing 215 to win, the visiting Hyderabad team needed 116 runs in 9 overs. Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi were in the middle. The incident happened in the 1st ball of the 12th over with Murugan Ashwin bowling to Abhishek Sharma. The left hander went for a cut to point and set off for a quick single but was sent back by his partner.

Shimron Hetmyer was quick to pounce on the ball and threw in his return at the stumps. Sanju Samson though had already dislodged the stumps with his hands with the batter well short of his crease. Hetmyer, and the fans couldn’t believe what they saw as Samson had let go off an easy chance to run out the batter.

Hyderabad get off to a good start –

Anmolpreet Singh became yet another opener for Hyderabad as he replaced Mayank Agarwal at the top. The right hander scored 33 off 25 balls with 4 fours and a six as the opening pair added 51 for the 1st wicket. Chahal got the breakthrough when he had the 25 year old caught by Hetmyer.

Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi carry forward the fight-

In walked Rahul Tripathi as the 32 year added 65 runs for the 2nd wicket with Abhishek Sharma under 7 overs. Sharma, got to yet another fifty this season as he scored 55 off 34 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. The big wicket of Sharma was picked by Ashwin caubght by Chahal.

Tripathi and Klassen lead the charge

With 99 still needed from 44 balls, SRH needed some one to press on the accelerator. That was done by Klassen, as the South African wicket keeper scored 26 off just 12 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Chahal got both the wickets as he first dismissed Klassen, then Tripathi for 47 (29 Balls, 2x4 and 3x6).

Phillips brutal hitting turns the game –

Glenn Philipps put Kuldip Yadav to the sword as he went after him in the 19th over of the innings. The first 3 balls saw 3 back to back sixes being hit, while the 4th went for a four. The 5th ball saw Phillips go for a huge hit only to give the busy Hetmyer a running catch.

Samad gives Hyderabad a huge win –

Just like last week against Mumbai Indians, the last over saw 17 needed for a win. the first ball went for 2 runs. The 2nd ball saw Samad hit one down the ground, as Root tried his best to take the catch. The Englishman could only tip the ball over for a six. The next 3 balls saw only 2 runs scored which made it 5 needed off 1.

Abdul Samad going for a huge hit holed out to Buttler who took the catch and there was wild celebrations in the stands. The whole mood changed, when the hooter began blaring and it was seen Sandeep Sharma had bowled a no ball. With 4 needed off 1 ball, Samad hit Sandeep over his head for a huge six to win the game for his side and keep their chances alive.
