Delhi Capitals became the 1st team to be eliminated after their loss in their last game to Chennai Super Kings last week. The game on Wednesday saw Punjab Kings host Delhi Capitals at the beautiful looking Dharamsala stadium at Himachal Pradesh. The venue was originally scheduled to host the 3rd test between India and Australia. The match couldn’t be hosted as it was shifted to Indore.
The story as it happened –
Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and chose to bowl first, with dew set to play a key role while chasing. Atharva Taide and Kagiso Rabada were the two changes for Punjab Kings as Mitchell Marsh missed out due to injury. Prithvi Shaw also was drafted after missing the last few games due to bad form for Delhi Capitals.
Shikhar Dhawan stuns everyone with a terrific catch –
David Warner set a record for posting the most 400 plus runs in a season during the IPL. The 36 year old left hander was again showing his good form with the bat on Wednesday. Sam Curran had the Australian opener going for a big shot off a slower ball. Warner, couldn’t time the ball and Shikhar Dhawan covered good ground to take a diving catch.

Warner and Shaw give Delhi flying start –
Prithvi Shaw was dropped for his bad form at the start of the season and replaced by Phil Salt. Warner and Shaw resumed their partnership as they added 94 for the first wicket in 10.2 overs.
Warner was batting well on 46 before he fell to Sam Curran with his knock coming off 31 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Shaw got to his 1st fifty of the season before he became Curran’s 2nd wicket. Shaw scored 54 off 38 balls with 7 fours and a six.
Rossouw’s assault helps Delhi score 213 –
The night at Himachal Pradesh saw Rilee Rossouw score 82 off 37 balls. The unbeaten knock saw the left hander hit 8 fours and 6 sixes in his knock. Rossouw was severe on all the bowlers.
Phil Salt scored 26 not out off 14 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Delhi Capitals got their highest total of the season with 213/2 from their 20 overs. The match is a must win for Punjab Kings to make it to the top 4 in the table.
