Game number 56 was hosted by Eden Gardens at Kolkata as Rajasthan Royals took on Kolkata Knight Riders. Both the teams were coming into the game with the need of a win to keep their hopes alive to make it to the top 4. Rajasthan Royals had lost their last game in heartbreaking fashion. Sandeep Sharma’s no ball saw SRH win the game, KKR meanwhile came into the game after beating Punjab Kings in a close encounter at home.
The story as it happened –
Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to bowl first. KM Asif came in for Murugan Ashwin for the Royals. For Kolkata, Anukul Roy came into the team for Vaibhav Arora. The wicket looked dry with the track which looked like a spin paradise.
Hetmyer takes a stunning catch to dismiss Jason Roy –
Trent Boult was the man who Rajasthan have been missing dearly. Boult came back to form with the ball with a huge wicket of Jason Roy. The Englishman flicked a ball from Boult to the square leg boundary.
It looked like going for a certain six only for Shimron Hetmyer to pull off a stunning catch. The West Indian jumped up just in time to complete the catch and was smart enough to keep his balance and not go over the ropes.
Boult takes out KKR openers –
Jason Roy had been one of the bright sparks for Kolkata as far as the opening spot is concerned. The right handed opener fell for 10 off 8 deliveries with 2 fours to his name. Boult struck again when he dismissed Gurbaz, as the Afghan player fell for 18 off 12 balls with a four and 2 sixes. Gurbaz was caught by Sandeep Sharma to leave the home team at 29 for 2 in the 5th over.
