43rd game of the TATA Indian Premier League on Monday witnessed Lucknow Super Giants host Royal Challengers Bangalore. Last time the two teams met, the Lucknow team won a last ball encounter with one wicket in hand. Both the teams came into the game on the back of contrasting results. Bangalore had lost at home to Kolkata, while Lucknow had had won against Punjab away from home.
The story so far –
Faf Du Plessis won the toss and chose to bat first, there were two changes as Hazlewood and Anuj Rawat came in. Lucknow had Gowtham come in for Avesh Khan as the pitch was expected to aid spin.
KL Rahul gets injured to cause massive concerns –
The last ball of the 2nd over saw massive drama on the ground. Lucknow skipper KL Rahul was seen chasing the ball. As the ball hit the fence for a four, Rahul took a tumble as he was grimace in pain. The medical team came out and tended as Rahul was seen having a lot of discomfort. Athiya Shetty, KL Rahul’s wife was also seen looking concerned in the VIP box.
Bangalore get a good start –
Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis gave Bangalore a good start by adding 62 for the 1st wicket. The pair showed their consistency as both Kohli and Du Plessis continued their good form with the bat.
Lucknow bowlers make a comeback –
Kohli was the first to go when he gave the charge to Ravi Bishnoi and was stumped by Pooran. Kohli scored 31 off 30 balls, Gowtham struck next when he had Anuj Rawat out for 9. Big hitting Glenn Maxwell was out LBW to Bishnoi for 4. Amit Mishra then came into the party as he dismissed Prabhudesai for 6 to leave RCB at 90/4.
Tight bowling restricts Bangalore to 126-
There was a slight rain delay but once the play resumed, there was no respite for RCB as Faf Du Plessis fell for 44 to Amit Mishra. The wickets kept tumbling as Naveen Ul Haq caused damage in the lower order to finish with 3/30. Bangalore reach 126/9 from their 20 overs.
