Royal Challengers Bangalore walked into the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur needing a win. At the end of the one sided game, Faf Du Plessis and his men had completely demolished the home side to win by a massive 112 runs. The 60th match of the TATA Indian Premier League 2023 season was played on Sunday between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The story as it happened –

Faf Du Plessis won the toss and had no hesitation in deciding to bat first on a good batting wicket. There were two changes for Bangalore as Hasaranga and Hazlewood made way for Wayne Parnell and Michael Bracewell. Rajasthan made one change as Trent Boult was replaced by Adam Zampa.

Anuj Rawat does an MS Dhoni –

Bangalore saw young Anuj Rawat step into Dinesh Karthik’s shoes as a wicket keeper for the game against Mumbai. This time the young wicket keeper did something outrageous that even MS Dhoni would be proud off.

The incident happened in the last ball of the 8th over when Hetmyer took a single. Ashwin wanted a second but was sent back. Anuj Rawat collected the ball and threw at the stumps between his legs without even looking. Ashwin who looked confident of his safety though was horrified to find his bat short of the crease to run him out for a duck.

Du Plessis and Maxwell lead the Bangalore charge again –

Bangalore’s in-form opening pair found the going tough early as Kohli struggled to 18 off 19 balls. The pair added 50 before Kohli fell in the last ball of the powerplay to KM Asif caught by Jaiswal.

Just like their last meeting, Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell joined forces to add 69 for the 2nd wicket. Du Plessis scored 55 off 44 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes, while Maxwell scored 54 off 33 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.

Bangalore then saw Anuj Rawat score 29 off 11 balls not out with 3 fours and 2 sixes as they reached 171 on the board

Bangalore demolish Rajasthan to skittle them out for 59 –

Chasing 172 to win, Rajasthan never were in the hunt as they were bowled out for 3rd lowest total in IPL for 59. The top scorer was Shimron Hetmyer with 35 off 19 balls with a four and 4 sixes. Joe Root batting for the 1st time scored 10 runs as there were 4 ducks in the RR innings. Both the openers were out for a duck, while Samson was out for 4.

Wayne Parnell picked 3/10 from his 3 overs, while Bracewell and Karn Sharma picked 2 wickets each. Mohammad Siraj picked the wicket of Jaiswal, while Maxwell had the wicket of top scorer Hetmyer.
