Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings were playing their final game of the season as far as the league phase was concerned. The game on Saturday was the last of the season for Delhi Capitals as they became the 1st team to be knocked out after a dismal run which saw them lose 5 games in a row. For Chennai Super Kings, there was lot to play for as a win over Delhi will see them qualify for the playoff stages of the tournament.

Dhoni’s straight bat answer to Danny Morrison ‘s question –

It has become a recurring theme that Danny Morrison is the center of attention specially with MS Dhoni at the toss. For year’s the former Kiwi pacer has been asking MS Dhoni if this will be the last year he plays the IPL. It was different on Saturday as Morrison went out for the toss with MS Dhoni and David Warner.

Chennai won the toss and Dhoni decided to bat first with the wicket about to take spin later. Morrison asked Dhoni “Simple question, you win you are there . you are qualified right?. MS Dhoni though played it cool to the question and said “we have been trying to win games right from the 1st game”

Gaikwad scores a quick fifty –

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway opened the innings yet again. The right and left hand combination have been giving the CSK team some flying starts. The same was the case on Saturday with the openers adding 141 for the 1st wicket in 14.3 overs.

Gaikwad scored 79 off mere 50 with 3 fours in his knock along with 7 sixes. This year the 26 year old hasn’t had the lofty season that he had in the previous years. But he came good in a game that mattered the most.

Conway scores 87 to keep the momentum going –

New Zealand opener Devon Conway has taken to the IPL like a duck to the water. On Saturday he scored yet another 50 this year as he top scored with 87 off 52 balls with 3 sixes and 11 fours.

Chennai end up with –

MS Dhoni came out to bat number 4 which is the highest he has batted this season. Conway lost his wicket when he holed out to Aman Khan off Nortje, shortly after Shivam Dube fell to Khaleel Ahmed caught by Lalit Yadav. It was the turn of Jadeja and Dhoni to wield the willow as Chennai reached a massive 223 from 20 overs with 75 runs coming off the last 5 overs.
