Cricket in India, very much like Bollywood is a true case of all that glitters is not gold. It’s true that there is a lot of difference between the two popular professions. For instance, one is scripted and other isn’t. One is reel, the other is real. However, the one similarity is that because you’re always in the public eye, people sometimes take too much liberty and mindlessly troll you.
The other similarity between Bollywood and Cricket is that the whole cake is eaten by the select few who make it to the top level. There are millions of others who struggle and may not reach the absolute top of the tree but do well for themselves. Their journey is full of struggle and hard work, yet they aren’t as respected as they ought to be.
Ashok Dinda is often trolled by fans
Ashok Dinda is a legend of Bengal cricket and has more than 400 first-class wickets. However, the pacer didn’t quite do too well for India and at the IPL level. This has inspired memes under the name of Ashok Dinda pace academy. Basically, whichever bowler has an off day and gets hit for runs in a match is bracketed and said to be in the Ashok Dinda pace academy.
This is quite unfortunate as Ashok Dinda comes from a very humble background. His journey has been really tough and full of hard work. Recently, when Isuru Udana went for a lot of runs against the Mumbai Indians, he was bracketed in the above-mentioned academy. However, the Sri Lankan pacer won heart’s by paying a tribute to Ashok Dinda. He posted an excerpt of Dinda’s old interview talking about his struggles and gave him the respect he deserved.
