We are well and truly into day 2 of the 1st test match between India and Australia. The game began on Thursday at the VCA stadium at Nagpur. India bowled out Australia for 177 and headed into lunch with 27 runs in arrears with 3 wickets down. Like in every India-Australia there is controversy looming large. This time the controversy began well on the 1st day. The first day of the 1st test saw a huge controversy boil over with Indian  spinner Ravindra Jadeja in the eye of the storm.

The story as it happened –

During the 1st day, with Jadeja bowling the cameras caught the left arm spinner walking up to Siraj. The Indian fast bowler handed some ointment which Jadeja applied on his hand. This was picked up by the cameras and soon the visuals were all over on the social media.

Michael Vaughan tweets his views –

Former English skipper Michael Vaughan is an eagle eyed social media expert. Vaughan, seems to make his views quick on everything related to Indian cricket. Thursday was no exception as Vaughan took to Twitter and wrote “what is it he is putting on his spinning finger? Never ever seen this”

Ravi Shastri comes up with a befitting reply –

While the whole storm was brewing! Former India coach and commentator Ravi Shastri has made a huge statement. Shastri did not hold back on his thoughts when he was asked to comment on the statement by Vaughan.

Speaking during the broadcast for Star Sports India, Shastri said “I have not heard much about it. I have asked two questions. Was there any problem with the Australian team? the answer was ‘no’. did the match referee come into play? He was told about it, he cleared everything, matter ends. Why are we discussing anybody else? And to be honest, ointment as a reliever, the match referee would have been told if there was any decision to be taken or not. By the way on this track, you don’t need anything. The ball will turn”

Jadeja cleared of any wrongdoing –

While the storm has taken over the social media and there have been debates, the outcome has come. The match referee from Zimbabwe, Andy Pycroft has cleared Ravindra Jadeja of any mischief.

Team India in command at lunch on day 2 –

India began the day exactly 100 runs behind Australia on the 1st innings deficit. India lost Ashwin for 23 and Pujara for 7 as Todd Murphy has picked all the 3 wickets to fall so far in the day. India had Rohit Sharma batting on 85 along with Kohli on 12 at Lunch as India are behind by 26. The Indian fans will hope that India can ride on to a huge lead on the back of these two Indian stalwarts.
