
Cricket as a sport can bring about huge acclaim and fan’s support during a player’s career. The game can also give an endless amount of financial windfall during one’s career, but with fame and fortune comes attention and sometimes this attention can turn unwanted if you happen to be a legend of the game and there are some miscreants who want to make their name on the back of robbing the house of a legendary cricketers house. Ricky Ponting had to undergo the ignominy of being one of the high profile causalities of miscreants making their name at his expense.
The story as it happened

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting was in for a rude shock as a few miscreants broke into his house at Melbourne and managed to steal an automobile which the legendary cricketer had parked at his driveway. The Melbourne Police were quick to heed to the situation and got down to investigating the situation. The police finally managed to prize the car back as after a quick search was launched and it was understood the car was being driven in an unreliable manner. The car was seized from an area called Camberwell which is in Melbourne.

Since making his debut for Australia in 1995 the Tasmania born batsman was tipped for greatness. Ponting had a whirlwind few years early in his career but the period post-1999 saw him evolve into one of the great batsmen of his era along with Sachin Tendulkar. Ponting led his nation to two back to back World Cup titles without losing a game during the peak of Australian dominance in the world game. Ponting ended with over 13000 test runs with 41 centuries and 52 half-centuries with an average of 51.8, while in the ODI format he scored 13000 runs with 30 centuries and 82 half-centuries with an average of 42. After his retirement, he has taken to commentary and coaching roles and he is currently the coach of Delhi Capitals in the IPL where he led the team to their maiden final in the IPL.
