Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023 is heading into its final week as this Monday’s game between Dindigul Dragons and Salem Spartans saw the league phase reach its end. Dindigul Dragons had already qualified for the final phase of the tournament. Salem Spartans on the other hand had already been eliminated from the tournament. The Spartans came into the game with just 4 points from their 6 games. Dragons on the other hand had to win to head into the knock out phase of the tournament in the top two position.

The story as it happened –

Dindigul Dragons captain Baba Indrajith won the toss and chose to bowl first. The match was played at Indian Cement Cricket Ground and due to the overhead conditions chasing was the preferred option.

Dragons players left stunned due to fielder’s brain-fade –

Sarvana Kumar was bowling to Kavin the wicket keeper batter for Spartans. Kumar bowled a short ball as Kavin went for a hook shot and timed the ball well. Aushik Srinivas took the catch, but he is where the entire incident unfolded. The fielder had already stepped outside the boundary while taking the catch and the decision was given as six in favor of the batter.

Sunny Sandhu helps Spartans reach 160 –

Varun Chakravarthy continued his good form with the ball when he got rid of both the Spartans openers. The KKR spinner got rid of Kaushik Gandhi for 7, while getting the wicket of Aravind for 26. Kavin scored 25 off 9 balls with 4 fours and a six. The top scorer for the Spartans was Sunny Sandhu with 57 off 39 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes.

Dragons take home an easy win –

Chasing 161 to win, the Dragons got to the target with 10 balls left and 7 wickets in hand. Vimal Kumar began the chase with 42 off 36 balls with 3 fours and a six. The star with the bat was skipper Indrajith who scored 83 off 50 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. The Dragons remained untroubled as they won the game to move to the knockout phase in the 2nd place in the table.
