Australia came into the Lordβs after their outstanding win in the 1st test at Edgbaston by 2 wickets. The win enabled Australia to take a 1-0 lead in the series for Ashes 2023. The Lords test has again seen domination by the visitors in each of the sessions played so far. Pat Cummins and his men have withstood the Baz-Ball of England to come out on top so far at the home of cricket.

Australia were bowled out for 416 in their 1st innings on day 2. Steve Smith was the star with the bat as he scored yet another test ton for Australia. The home team ended the 2nd day with 4 wickets down still 138 runs behind the Australian 1st innings score.
Stokes falls to a stunner from Green β
Cameron Green was the star for Australia with the ball on the 2nd day. England came out to bat with Harry Brooks and Captain Ben Stokes. Mitchell Starc was tasked with bowling the 1st over of the day.
Starc, did not waste time as he squared up Ben Stokes and got an edge of his bat. Green who was standing at 2nd slip took a sharp catch. The ball was flying at good speed only for the Australian all rounder to pouch the catch and send Stokes back for 17 off 58 balls.

England all out for 325 β
The wicket of Stokes saw the English team lose a flurry of wickets. Harry Brook was out next for 50 off 68 balls with 4 fours in his knock. Jonny Bairstow was out for 18 when he fell to Hazlewood. The England side were bowled out for 325 as the Australians ended up with a lead of 91 runs.
Starc leads the Australian honours β
Veteran Australian left arm pacer, Mitchell Starc, was the star with the ball as he picked 3 wickets. Starc got the wickets of Joe Root before dismissing Ben Stokes and Harry Brook. Josh Hazlewood picked 2 wickets while Travis Head got the wickets of Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson. The other bowlers, Cummins, Lyon and Green picked a wicket each.
