Lahore Qalandars took Multan Sultans on Saturday in a top of the table clash. Lahore prevailed by 21 runs as the two teams kept their respective positions in the table. The home team stayed at the top of the table, while Multan were 2nd in the table with 8 points.

The story so far –

Before the game on Saturday, both Lahore and Multan had played 6 games each and were placed at 1 and 2 in the table. Lahore Qalandars had 10 points with 5 wins, while Multan had 4 wins from their 6 games. The home team won the toss and decided to bat first in front of a packed Gaddafi Stadium.

Kieron Pollard takes a stunning catch to dismiss Shafique –

Abdullah Shafique was proving to be a huge thorn in the flesh of Multan as he was o0n 48 off 34 balls. That’s when Pollard made the difference with the ball. The veteran West Indian bowled a slower ball outside off stump and Shafique went for a slash. T

he ball took edge of the toe end of the bat and flew back to Pollard who took an amazing return catch. Once the catch was completed, Pollard was seen giving Shafique an angry stare and pointing towards the dressing room.


Billings and Shafique power Lahore to 180-

After the fall of Fakhar Zaman for a 3rd ball duck, Shafique joined Mirza Baig and added 50 for the 2nd wicket. Baig was out for 17 before Billings and Shafique added 69 runs more for the 3rd wicket. Billings was the top scorer for Lahore with 54 off 35 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Anwar Ali, Ihsanullah, Abbas Afridi and Pollard took 2 wickets each as the home team reached 180 on the board.

Multan fall short as Rashid Khan does the trick –

Chasing 181 to win, Kieron Pollard top scored with 39 off 28 balls with 2 fours and 3 xixes. Lahore skipper, Mohammad Rizwan struggled his way to 27 ball 30 as every Multan batter got a start, but couldn’t capitalize on it. The star with the ball for Lahore was Rashid Khan who picked 3/15 from his 4 overs. Zaman Khan, Haris Rauf, Sikandar Raza and Hussain Talat picked a wicket each as Multan fell short by 21 runs.
