Watch! Kieron Pollard turns back the clock with a brutal assault on Andre Russell

Kieron Pollard is a name that every ardent cricket fans has at the top of his mind when we speak about modern day T20 greats. The 35 year old has played some amazing knocks for every team that he has been a part of. Mumbai Indians fans in particular have witnessed the brute strength of Pollard in over dozen years he spent with the men in Blue and Gold.

Pollard is currently playing for Mumbai Indians Emirates in the ILT20 league and has been taking the league by storm. The 35 year old from Trinidad and Tobago was in his imperious best in the game against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders on Friday.

The story so far –

Kieron Pollard was released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2023 TATA IPL auctions in December. Pollard who won 5 IPL titles and 2 Champions League titles with Mumbai decided to hang up his IPL boots. He soon took over the mantle of batting coach for the 2023 TATA IPL season.

Pollard’s brutal assault on Russell –

Mumbai Indians Emirates took on Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at the Shaikh Zayed Stadium on Friday. Former West Indian teammate, Andre Russell, was bowling the 18th over. Russell had already gone for 35 runs from his 3 overs.

The first 2 balls went for back to back fours, while Russell’s well directed yorker in the 3rd ball yielded just 2 runs. Pollard then hit Russell for a huge six over midwicket and followed it up with a 4. The last ball of the over saw Pollard, smash a low full toss for a 6 over long on boundary to make it 26 off the over.

Mumbai Indians Emirates score an impressive 180 –

Knight Riders won the toss and put MI in to bat, as a win for MI will take them closer to qualifications for the final stages of the tournament. Muhammad Waseem scored 60 off 43 balls with 1 four and 6 sixes. Andre Fletcher (22) and Lorcan Tucker (33) were the other contributors. Pollard then over as he scored 17 ball 43 with 4 fours and 3 sixes to help his team reach 180.

MI bowlers condemn Knight Riders to their 8th loss –

Chasing 181 to win, Knight Riders could manage mere 162 on the board to lose the game by 18 runs. Knight Riders suffered their 8th loss with just 1 point to stay bottom of the table. The top scorer was Andre Russell with 42 off 22 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Dwayne Bravo was the pick of the bowlers with 3/37, while Zahoor Khan and Imran Tahir picked 2 wickets each.
