India and Australia got down to business after nearly 2 months of non stop T20 action. Rohit Sharma and Pat Cummins were all smile as they went for the toss as the game was a big one. Overcast skies welcomed the two teams its fans as the final of the World Test Championships 2023 began on Wednesday. The battle was between the world number 1 test side and number 2 test side in Australia. The team that wins the title will become the first to have won every ICC title.

The story as it happened –

Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first to make use of the green pitch. It was expected to be a bowling day as the skies wore a grey look. India went in with just 1 spinner in Ravindra Jadeja as Ashwin and Axar Patel were left out for Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav. The Australian team had already named their side a day before the game as Boland came in for Hazlewood.

Siraj leaves Labuschagne hopping in pain –

India opened their bowling with Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj from each end. While Shami, was causing problems from round the wicket, it was Mohammad Siraj who making the ball talk.

Labuschagne who has been a thorn in the Indian side in the past got a ball rising from a length. The ball went on to hit the bottom hand of the Australian number 3 batter as he threw the bat in pain and agony. The Australian team physio was quick to come out and assess the damage before Labuschagne took stance to bat once again.


Khawaja falls for a duck –

India struck first when Mohammad Siraj continued his good form with the ball in recent times. The 29 year old from Hyderabad had the ball leave the 36 year old left handed Australian opener . KS Bharat behind the stumps did the rest as Khawaja fell for a duck to leave the Australians in early trouble. Both Siraj and Shami then bowled tight lines to make run scoring difficult for the Australians in the 1st hour of play.
