2023 has been a mixed bag year for promising opening batter Prithvi Shaw. The start of the year saw him crack record breaking 379 for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy game against Assam. This was followed by his now in-famous case with Sapna Gill, where the model and the cricketer got into a heated argument.

The story so far -

Shaw, who was part of the Delhi Capitals team in 2023 then saw his form drop. This led to the former Indian under-19 skipper getting axed from the side. Shaw, did make a comeback and score a fifty but that was towards the back end of the tournament. There was good news on the Sapna Gill front as the court had given the clean chit as far as misbehavior is concerned.

New CCTV footage emerges –

It seems the troubles will not end for Prithvi Shaw any time soon as far as the off the field issues are concerned. There is a new CCTV footage which has made headlines involving the 23 year old.

Shaw can be seen at a party when a man who is later identified as Sapna Gill’s friend approaches him. The person in question is Shobhit Thakur who was in the party with model Sapna Gill.

Selfie Request turns ugly –

The CCTV footage in question clearly shows Shobhit Thakur approach Prithvi Shaw on the dance floor. The fan then says something to Shaw who seems un-affected until that point. The who scene turned sour once Shobhit Thakur took out his phone to click a Selfie with the cricketer. Shaw, can be seen slapping the phone away as the two exchanged words before Shaw’s friend came to separate the two.

What next for Shaw?

The new CCTV footage will certainly have some repercussions. Shaw could find himself in trouble after the new evidence has come to light. The BCCI and MCA will also have a close on the issue. Shaw is currently part of the West Zone squad to play the Duleep Trophy 2022. The 23 year old hasn’t played for India since mid-2021 when he was part of the Indian team for a short series of Sri Lanka.
