India and Australia began the 3rd day with the test match in control of the visitors. Australia were all out for 480 after a marathon knock of 180 by Usman Khawaja. India ended the day at 36/0 after 10 overs with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill batting at the end of the day. India began the 3rd day with a hope to score some huge runs on the board in a bid to get close to the Australian total.

India start strong –
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill came out on the 3rd with a positive frame of mind. The Indian captain and his fellow opener went after Mitchell Starc. Rohit Sharma hit Starc for a four and a six off successive balls to go past 17000 runs in International cricket.
India slows down after Rohit’s wicket –
Matthew Kuhnemann struck first when he got the wicket of Rohit Sharma for 35. The Indian captain was caught by Labuschagne to break the 1st wicket stand of 74. Pujara and Gill then added 113 runs in 40 overs as the Indian scoring rate started trickle down to under 3 runs per over.
Shubman Gill scores his 2nd test ton –
Pujara was holding on to one end as Gill was going strong at the other end. The 23 year old bought up his 2nd test century just before tea on the 3rd day. Shubman Gill was under a huge cloud after his poor performance in the Indore test.
Pujara was out LBW to Todd Murphy just before the tea break for 42 off 121 balls. Pujara hit 3 fours in his innings. At the time of writing, India were 236/2 in the 77th over with Kohli on 24 and Gill on 127.
