Kohli’s mixed bag start to the year –

Virat Kohli ended 2022 with a ODI century after over three years and began 2023 in the same vein. In the series against Sri Lanka, the 34 year old scored 2 centuries in the 1st and 3rd ODI respectively. His 166 not out in the final ODI at Kerala was the highlight of the series as India won the series with a 3-0 margin.

In the next series against much superior New Zealand bowling, Virat Kohli couldn’t score heavily as got starts but couldn’t convert it into a huge score. Against the Kiwis, Kohli scored mere 55 runs from 3 games. His best in the series was the 36 in the final game at Indore.

Australian challenge next for Kohli-

Starting 9th February, India will play 4 tests and 3 ODI games against Australia before the IPL begins. Kohli hasn’t scored a test ton in over 3 years and he will want to break this jinx. Off- late Kohli has struggled in the longer format of the game and fallen to the spinners time and again.

A series win against Australia with 3-1 or 4-0 margin will earn India a ticket to the finals of the World Test Championship. India wil hope Kohli can break his jinx in the red ball format and play a crucial role for India and perform well in the highly anticipated series against the Australians.
