Johnson Charles falls to a spectacular catch by Varma –

West Indies made a great start as they got off the blocks really quick in the powerplay. India went in with 3 spinners and it was the famous duo of Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav who struck.

Kuldeep Yadav was the bowler to watch out for during the ODI series and he made an immediate impact on Thursday. Yadav, tossed the very first ball as Charles went for a big hit. The batter couldn’t time the ball as Tilak Varma ran in making good ground to dismiss Charles to mark his debut game.

West Indies lose three –

Brandon King and Kyle Mayers came out to bat and scored 29 for the 1st wicket in 4.1 overs. Chahal was asked to bowl inside the powerplay, and the 33 year old struck. Chahal first got rid of Mayers for 1 out LBW. It was the turn of Brandon King next as he was out for 28 off 19 balls with 4 fours and a six LBW to Chahal. It was soon 58/3 when Charles fell to Yadav for 3.

Nicolas Pooran who has been on a roll lately, showed his great form with the bat. Pooran, had scored a century in the MLC2023 final began with his trademark big hits to put the Indian bowlers under pressure.
