Australia travelled to Mumbai from Ahmedabad to play the 1st ODI on Friday. The first of three One Day International matches was played at the Wankhede Stadium. Indian stand in captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first. Mohammad Siraj and Shamiโ€™s 3 wickets each helped India bowl out Australia for 188.

The story so far โ€“

Rohit Sharmaโ€™s absence meant the cricket crazy crowd in Mumbai came out in droves to bat Virat Kohli. The 34 year old had just scored his 28th test century after 1205 days, scoring 186 in the final test at Ahmedabad. On the back of this ton, the pressure was on Kohli to perform again.

Starc silences the Mumbai crowd โ€“

Chasing 189 to win, India had lost the wicket of Ishan Kishan early for 3 when he was out LBW to Marcus Stoinis. This got Virat Kohli into bat to join Shubman Gill at the wicket. Kohli got off the mark with a four and this gave the crowd the hope maybe they could watch a huge one from Kohli.

Virat Kohli has never been out to Mitchell Starc, on Friday the records books saw this change. Mitchell Starc had Virat Kohli playing across the line to a full ball as Kohli missed the line of the ball. The umpire had no hesitation in giving the Indian batter out and sending him back to the pavilion.

Starc lands two more massive blows โ€“

Surya Kumar Yadav came into bat and was quick to be greeted with a loud cheer. The very first ball, Starc swung one back into the batter. Yadav missed the line of the ball, but the umpire did not give it out. The Australians went up for DRS and it was soon shown that Yadav out for a 1st ball duck. Starc , then got the key wicket of Shubman Gill for 20 off 31 balls. Gill was caught by Labuschagne at point to give Starc his 3rd wicket and leave India in trouble at 39/4.
