Ahmedabad was the venue for the final test match between India and Australia for the Border Gavaskar series. By winning the first 2 tests, India had already confirmed their grip over the trophy.
Australia, though pulled one back with a 9 wicket win over India in the 3rd test match at Indore. The last time India played a test at the Narendra Modi Stadium was in early 2021 as they beat England in the 4th test to win the series 3-1.
The story as it happened โ
Ahmedabad witnessed near capacity crowd welcome the two teams. Honourable Indian PM, Shri Narendra Modi was joined by counterpart Mr. Anthony Albanese. The two premiers of the India and Australia welcome the two teams and stood for the national anthem as well.
Smith and Khawaja frustrate Indiaโ
Steve Smith, walking out to bat for perhaps the final time in India replaced Marnus Labuschagne who was out for 3. Smith and Khawaja were making it difficult for the Indian bowlers. Smith in particular was on 38 after having played 134 balls in his knock with 3 fours in his knock. The pair added 79 runs after having played 248 balls with the scoring rate under 2 per over.
Jadeja breaks a key stand โ
Rohit Sharma was looking lost and out of ideas, when he turned to his star bowler Ravindra Jadeja. The 4th ball of the 64th over saw Jadeja bowl run the wicket to Smith. The Australian captain could only get an inside edge back on to his stumps, when trying to go for a cut shot. Smith, threw his head back in disappointment as he fell for 38 after batting for a long time.

Ravindra Jadeja was in the line of fire after his wicket of Labuschagne which came off a no-ball, changed the whole Indore test. The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma was seen looking at the umpire. Once it was confirmed that the ball was legal, the Indian captain joined Jadeja in celebrating the wicket of Steve Smith.
