WPL 2023: Twitter blasts Gujarat Giants over the confusing messages about Deandra Dottin

Bigger the game, the more big controversies. And It's WPL Women's, Premier League. One of the grand games. It got its 1st controversy on Saturday even before the inauguration. Deandra Dottin was replaced by Gujarat Giants (GG) due to a medical issue, which uncovered that she was completely fit. And that got Gujrat Giants Management under the questions.  

The story so far –

Saturday was a historic day as the women made history with the 1st game between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants taking place. The match took place at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai in front of a packed house. One of the biggest controversies happened even before a ball could be bowled.

Gujarat Giants puts out a statement regarding Deandra Dottin –

Just before the first ball could be bowled, there was a huge breaking news which hit the fans. Gujarat Giants announced that West Indian batter Deandra Dottin will not be taking part in the WIPL 2023. It was announced that Kim Garth will replace the veteran West Indian batter.

Dottin comes up with a response –

once the news came out, Dottin like the others was caught unawares and put out a story on her social media. Dottin asked β€œ Get well soon from what if I may asked?”. This left the fans confused.

Mumbai Indians make a fantastic start to the campaign –

Gujarat won the toss and chose to bowl first and made an immediate impact with the wicket of Yastika Bhatia for 1. Tanuja Tanwar had the distinction of becoming the 1st bowler to take a WIPL wicket. Hayley Matthews and Nat Scriver Brunt then added 54 for the 2nd wicket, before Brunt was out to Wareham for 23. Matthews scored 47 off 31 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes before being castled by Gardner.

At the time of writing, Mumbai were 166/4 from 17 overs with Harmanpreet Kaur having been dismissed for 65 off 30 balls.
