Indian cricket over the last few years has seen its standards of cricket being raised to the extent that today it is being called the best team in the world. The vision of skipper Virat Kohli has borne fruit as he has made India one of the best test playing nations in the world. During this time India has seen the emergence of many young players who were given a debut under the captaincy of Virat Kohli one whom is Shubman Gill as the 21 year old from Punjab is being touted for future greatness.
The story as it happened –
Shubman Gill is one of the best young talents that India has seen to have broken through in the last few years along with Prithvi Shaw, while Shaw is working his way back into the international set up, the debut of Shubman Gill at MCG made the world go wow. The 21 year old is known for his text book cricket and eye pleasing shots, and is already being touted as a future great and a prospective captain. During a conversation with leading cricket website ESPNCricinfo the right handed test opener named the one area where has the edge over Virat Kohli and it wasn’t cricket related. Gill said “one thing.. FIFA. I know he’s going to be really pissed but he always loses to me in FIFA”
Huge few months ahead for Gill –
Shubman Gill did not have the greatest of IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders and his last few scores in the test matches against the English too haven’t been much to write home about. The 21 year old will be looking to make a positive impact during the World Test championship final against New Zealand which begins on the 18th of June till the 22nd of June at the Rose Bowl stadium in Southampton. Gill will also relish the chance to play against the likes of Broad and Anderson as the two teams are scheduled to play in a five test match series starting in August till September
