The South African team which is on a tour of Pakistan after nearly a decade and a half is playing their first test at the National Stadium in Karachi is engaged in a close battle for supremacy against the host nation. This is perhaps one of the biggest cricket series being hosted by Pakistan after a long time in their home patch. The cricket between the two teams has been exemplary with an even contest between bat and ball. The match also witnessed heated moment when South African captain and wicket keeper Quinton De Kock was involved in a verbal spat with Pakistani fast bowler Hassan Ali towards the end of Day two of the first test.
The verbal spat as it happened
The dying moments of day two saw Pakistan lose some quick wickets towards the end of the day. Hassan Ali was bowled while trying to a delivery off the bowling of Keshav Maharaj, the batsman though got a reprieve when the ball was called a no ball after it came to light that Maharaj had overstepped the crease. After getting the reprieve the batsman Hassan Ali and South African wicket keeper and skipper got involved in a verbal spat which had to be calm down by both the on field umpires.
Test match evenly poised
Batting first South Africa scored 220, Pakistan had a horrendous start to its first innings but a century by Fawad Alam and a half century by Faheem Ashraf took the score past the South African score. A late order rear guard saw the Pakistani end up with a lead of 158. Aiden Markram and Rassie Van Der Dussen led a fight back late on day three but Yasir Shah picked three quick wickets to bring the home side back into the contest and take the upper hand.
